Norwegian headquartered solar panel company, REC Group, has launched the Alpha Pure Series of lead-free solar panels setting new standards for sustainable solar panel design. But not only that, the Alpha Pure Series are based on the latest solar cell technology delivering world-class levels of power performance, within an elegant, gapless pure-black design.
With REC Group’s outstanding 25-year product warranty and reputation for reliability, the Alpha Pure Series has fast become the solar panel of choice for customers who demand the best.
Discover eight ways REC Group’s Alpha Pure Series can turbo-charge the power output of your solar system, whilst being one of the most environmentally friendly solar panels on the market.
- More power
- Higher efficiency
- Handles the heat
- Works in partial shade
- Resistant to salt corrosion
- Super-strong
- Lead-free
- Industry-leading warranties
1. More power
With a compact footprint of 1.93m2, the Alpha Pure Series panels have up to 430 watts per panel, providing an impressive 222 watts of solar generation capacity per square metre. When installed in limited spaces such a residential rooftops, REC Alpha Pure panels pack an extra 16 per cent more power into the same area compared to most other solar panels. This is large part due to their innovative gapless cell design, which increases the active area of the panel to capture more sunlight.
2. Higher efficiency
By using the most efficient crystalline cell technology, known as heterojunction technology, Alpha Pure Series panels produce more energy than standard crystalline panels. N-type mono wafers use thin film cell technology which enables more holes and electrons in the cell to be converted to energy. That’s why Alpha Pure Series solar panels have an industry-leading efficiency level of 22.3 per cent. This means that 22.3 per cent of sunlight reaching an Alpha Pure Series panel is converted to solar electricity (comparing favourably to the industry standard of 19 per cent).
3. Handles the heat
Solar panels don’t perform as well when it’s hot. They work better on cool, sunny days. This is to do with the laws of thermodynamics and how heat reduces the power output of any electronic device, including solar panels.
The rule with solar panels is that they produce less power for every 1⁰C over 25⁰C. The industry standard is an efficiency loss of between 0.3% to 0.5% for every degree over 25⁰C. But the Alpha Pure Series beats this, with an efficiency loss of only 0.26% for every 1⁰C over 25⁰C.
Whilst these percentages may sound small, it is important to remember that we’re talking about panel temperature not ambient air temperature. And on most Aussie roofs in the middle of summer, the panel temperature can easily reach 65⁰C. If this happens, an Alpha Pure Series panel will have an efficiency drop of just 10.4% whereas a standard panel would drop 16%.
Given that Alpha Pure Series starts off with an industry-leading efficiency of 22.3%, it will still be working at 11.9% efficiency on a hot 30⁰C+ day. Whereas most other panels will be working at just 3% efficiency.
This benefit alone is enough to justify purchase of REC Alpha Pure Series panels for your home or business!
4. Works in partial shade
Shading on solar panels can easily happen. It could be a fast-growing tree, leaf litter or shade from another object on your roof. With most conventional panels, any shading on the panel can reduce the panel’s power output to zero – and knock out the power output of an entire solar array.
But with the REC Alpha Pure Series, you don’t have this problem thanks to their award-winning twin design where the panel is divided into two equal sections. The current is split as it enters the panel, reducing shading losses by a factor of four to give you greater power output.
5. Resistant to salt corrosion
REC Alpha Pure panel have the highest salt mist anti-corrosion certification level possible (IEC 61701), making them ideally suited to the toughest coastal conditions. For example, if the aluminum frame of a solar panel comes in contact with any steel mounting hardware, corrosion will erode the aluminum frame where the metals touch. For inland Australian properties this isn’t a problem, but by the coast it could cause panels to fail within ten years. With Alpha Pure Series, you don’t have this concern as your panels are fully salt water corrosion resistant.
6. Super-strong
Strengthened by two support bars on the back, the Alpha Pure Series are designed to withstand extreme loads making them much stronger than standard panels. This is a real advantage for properties situated in windy areas, as the increased robustness of the Alpha Pure Series makes them much more resistant to extreme weather conditions.
7. Lead-free
In a design breakthrough, REC has removed lead from all components in the Alpha Pure Series including cell connections, cross connectors, and junction box soldering. Most other solar panels contain about 14 grams of lead1. Whilst this may not sound like much, it can quickly add up across the millions of solar panels that need to be recycled every year. With REC Alpha Pure Series, there is no toxic leakage of lead after recycling; a major plus for any homeowner looking to boost their environmental impact.
8. Industry-leading warranties
The Alpha Pure Series comes with an industry-leading 25-year product warranty. But that’s not all. They also have an outstanding 25-year performance guarantee which warrants that the panels will generate no less than 92 per cent of their day 1 output at the end of 25 years. Most other solar panels have 80-82 per cent guarantee of panel power output at the end of 25 years. And since power output is what counts with solar panels, this is yet more proof why REC Group’s Alpha Pure Series are setting new standards in solar power performance!
