Stiebel Eltron WWK Outdoor Hot Water Heat Pump

About STIEBEL ELTRON

STIEBEL ELTRON was founded in Germany in 1924 by Dr Theodor Stiebel, who invented the coil immersive water heater. The company grew rapidly due to a steady stream of innovations in water heating technology.

In 1976, STIEBEL ELTRON became one of the first companies to develop heat pump technology for energy-efficient hot water and rapidly became a world leader in the field.

Today, STIEBEL ELTRON is a multi-million dollar international company with 3,700 employees.

Renowned for the quality and efficiency of its products, STIEBEL ELTRON is committed to the highest standards of engineering. Today, all STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps are 100% designed in Germany and made in Europe.

Since establishing its Australian office in 1995, STIEBEL ELTRON has carved out a leading position as a provider of high quality heat pumps that are amongst the most energy efficient hot water systems on the market.

About Stiebel Hot Water Heat Pumps

A smart-looking, all-in-one unit, STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps comprise of a heat pump unit and a storage tank. The heat pump extract ambient heat from the surrounding air and sends that heat – by pumping it – into water in the storage tank.

Because STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps concentrate heat, rather than create heat, they require less electricity to operate than conventional electric hot water systems.

When compared with other brands, STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps have amongst the highest efficiency ratings. They provide outstanding electricity savings and excellent performance at a competitive price.

Even better, when connected to a solar power system, a STIEBEL ELTRON heat pump can supply your home with free hot water during solar-generating hours.

With a large tank capacity and fast reheating capability, a STIEBEL ELTRON heat pump will provide you with hot water whenever you need it – without costing the earth!

Benefits

Highly efficient

STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps have an efficiency rating of up to 3.94. This means they generate up to 3.94 times more energy (in the form of hot water) than they consume. So, for every unit of electricity required to power the pump, they produce up to 3.94 units of hot water. In comparison, electric resistive hot water systems generate less than one unit of hot water for every unit of electricity consumed.

Lower electricity bills

With a STIEBEL ELTRON heat pump, you can save up to 74 per cent on hot water heating compared to a traditional electric hot water tank. That’s even before you connect your heat pump to a solar panel system. Team your STIEBEL ELTRON heat pump with solar and you’ll save even more!

Save on power

Thanks to its clever design, STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps have a power draw of only 2.3 Amps making it the heat pump with the lowest power draw on the market. With less power required for its operation, you benefit from lower electricity bills from day 1.
STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps also have well-insulated tanks which means less re-heating of water. Current models have 40 per cent thicker tank insulation, compared to previous models.

Solar ready

When installed by Specialized Solar & Electrical, your STIEBEL ELTRON heat pump will include a digital timer. This will be programmed so that your heat pump runs during solar generating times. This means you will get free hot water for most of the year, assuming you have a large enough solar system to provide power to both your heat pump and supply your household electricity needs.

Lots of hot water

With a STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps, you’ll have plenty of hot water, both day and night. The heat pumps come in two sizes to meet the needs of both small and large households:

  • 220 litre tank
  • 302 litre tank

Hot water is stored in the tank at between 61⁰C and 65⁰C. When mixed with cold water, STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps can provide the following amounts of hot water for showers:

Amount of hot water for showers provided by STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps

220 litre tank 302 litre tank
Temperature of water in tank 61⁰C to 65⁰C 61⁰C to 65⁰C
Amount of hot water at 40⁰C (provided by mixing tank hot water with cold water at 20⁰C) 360 litres 540 litres
Number of five minute showers at 40⁰C 8 12

Suitable for hot and cold climates

No matter whether you live in the Australian Alps or in Alice Springs, you’ll always have enough hot water from your STIEBEL ELTRON heat pump.

With an operating temperature range of minus 5°C to 42°C, STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps are designed to work effectively even in the toughest climatic conditions. They also have an automatic defrost function, so if it’s icy and snowy outside your heat pump will keep working without a hitch.

Low maintenance

STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps are corrosion-resistant with special enamel coating of the heat pump cylinder. They also have a current impressed anode which never needs replacing; this makes the heat pump virtually maintenance-free over its expected useful life of 20-30 years.

Also, STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps work effectively in both hard and soft water areas. So, no matter whether you are on tank or town water, your heat pump should work without any issues.

Eligible for federal and state government rebates

Because STIEBEL ELTRON heat pumps run on renewable energy (i.e., the heat in ambient air), they qualify for generous rebates from both federal and state governments.

The federal government rebates, known as Small-scale Technology Certificates or STCs, are worth around $1,000 on a 302 litre STIEBEL heat pump in most parts of Victoria.

In addition, your household may be eligible for a rebate from the state government of up to $1,000.

Get in touch to find out what hot water rebates you may be eligible for.

Environmentally friendly

Conventional electric hot water systems produce around 4.75 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually making them the worst greenhouse gas polluters out of all hot water systems. Gas hot water systems are also bad for the environment, particularly as most gas is produced by hydraulic fracturing which damages habitats and can poison groundwater.

Hot water heat pumps like STIEBEL ELTRON, only release around 1.6 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year making them the best environmental choice for carbon conscious households.
